I live in a state where minimum wage is $10-13 so landing a $14 part time job is pretty cool meanwhile.
I work at a roller skate park, it’s super dead most of the time, I get 5 people MAX so I just sit on my phone but when I open I do have to check the garbage bins, wipe the table, sweep my station.
I have two other co-workers and everyday we’re given a sheet to mark off that we did our chores for the day. Welll I started looking at the chore sheets these past few days and none of my co-workers scrape the ice off the popcicle cooler. (It’s humid so water drips and ice builds up)
One of my coworkers is 65 and she only works weekends so whatever but my other co-worker has no excuse other than her back is “messed up” she mentioned that like 2 days within meeting her. She’s also really cool w the manager. I’m guessing that’s her excuse? You’re suppose to take the popsicle tray out in order to scrape the ice, it’s not even that heavy.
I’ve always had issues standing up for myself in the past so my anxiety is beating me up about this. I want want to ask for a raise but I just started a month ago and I sit on my phone all day. I just don’t think it’s fair that I’m the only one doing this task. I try to tell myself that for $14 I’d be working at a call center non stop calls and I’m just relaxing on my phone all day so I shouldn’t complain?
In the beginning I was only cleaning the ice off cooler twice a week because I thought I was taking turns with my co/worker but then the next morning my manager leaves me a note saying “ plz make sure the ice is scraped etc” she was nice about it.
I can’t stop over thinking. My coworker also started leaving the garbage behind and my manager noticed so she called her out.
ALSO today my coworker left a red bull can on one garbage bin and another drink on the other bin. I know it’s small garbage but it still pissing me off. I know it’s my anxiety telling me I’m being disrespected? And it sucks because my coworker is so friendly/nice but very lazy.
