I work an 8-5 office job as a case manager. I make 36k a year on salary. I have a college degree in social work and did everything right (or so I thought). I can't afford a house, can't afford a car even a used car is just sooo much money for what you get these days, and can't afford repairs for my old ass car that's on it's last leg. Most of my monthly income goes to taxes (I pay taxes and get zero benefits from the government because they spend all of our taxes on shit the average citizen doesn't need nor care about, looking at you military) and insurance that has a huge deductible (3600 deductible, wtf?).
Plus I owe about 30k in student loans so there goes even more of my money down the drain. Meanwhile I see people working retail or in restaurants who are making more than me and can afford to make car payments on a brand new car (not hating but what the fuck?). I'm so pissed and kind of done honestly with how society sees fields like social work and teaching. We get shit on and society doesn't give a fuck about how we contribute to society and it shows in your paycheck.
