So I worked for a local pet sitting company, in my interview I stated I wouldn't be able to do more than 20hrs a week due to ongoing health problems, she asked me for proof of these problems, so I showed her proof but I feel that I shouldn't have had to disclose my private health information in that much depth. Anyway, I proceeded to be assigned a lot more than 20hrs a week, plus due to her disorganisation, I was the one contacting all the clients and other employees to figure out times and dates for meet and greets etc, this extra work I was doing was unpaid. I got covid and took 5 days off, and after that my boss was very passive aggressive towards me, commenting things like 'are you going to actually turn up to this this time?' when assigning me jobs. I got fed up and had a chat with her that I wasn't comfortable doing the petsitting anymore and that my health problems were making it hard to keep up with the workload. She insisted I don't quit and asked me to take a break instead, and if I still feel the same in two weeks then she would just train me in admin instead. Two weeks went by and I contacted her and said I still felt I wasn't currently capable of resuming the pet caring, but I'd be happy to train in admin. She replied 'we are short staffed and really need petcarers more than we need admin right now' and that was it, she hasn't replied to any of my emails since, I still have keys to her home (“office”), and all work related items. I feel like I have silently been fired, and honestly I have no interest in going back to the job anyway because of her. I'm looking for other work, but it is very annoying to not have any communication about the issue and I feel like I was taken advantage of.
