I know 90% of the comments are going to be “talk to a lawyer,” but I mostly want to know if other people have experience this situation and what came of it.
I have a medical condition that makes it risky for me to go into my office without getting sick. There is no distancing between desks (like 3 feet away from other people.) There is no break room so you have to eat at your desk, so even if I wear a mask at work, it doesn't really matter cause no one else will. I got a doctor's note about my need to work from home.
My company is now changing my job description to make it so I have to go into the office and travel 25% of the time. I have talked to HR and me working from home is no longer a reasonable accommodation because the 'needs of the department have changed' AKA there is a new director of my department. There is also not a different department for me to work in. HR has asked me to come up with some solutions with my doctor, especially about the travel portion, but I don't understand why this has to be added to my job.
I am very much ready to just quit, but I make the most money in my household. I have been applying to jobs like crazy, but not really getting any hits.
Has anyone experienced a situation like this and how did it turn out?
TLDR – I have a medical condition and have been working remotely, now my company wants to revoke that.
