Saturday night my wife and her extended family had a massive family gathering for her grandfather's memorial. My wife's little sister is a nurse and is currently on her 3-day bereavement leave. For this exact reason. Her normal shift would start at 7:00 pm and she had already had coverage planned several days prior to this event. Her acting head nurse calls her at 6:00 p.m., while she's at the memorial with her family, and tells her that the person that was going to cover her shift can't so she needs to come in NOW! Less than an hour before she would even normally show up. It sent my SIL into an instant panic attack and she starts crying.
This is the same nurse that is CONSTANTLY harassing and isolating her. My SIL will volunteer openly to assist with patients and She is told by said head nurse, ” No, you deal with THIS patient, no else wants them.” She is verbally abusive to her and will talk down to her LOUDLY and in front of patients that she is helping. She is the definition of arrogant, narcissistic and “god-complex”.
My SIL absolutely loves what she does and believes that this woman is trying to drive her out. What direction should she take? She has already tried going to HR and her other supervisors to no avail.
