Got let go from my job after I struggled in a new promotion. No severance or COBRA, just pay through the end of the week. This was 2 weeks after I informed them my father was in the ICU and I may need to miss a few day, they asked how they can “support” me.
Well I’m broke. Today I donated plasma because I’m $300+ overdrawn from bills piling up and the clinic is offering $100 on your first 5 visits – 2 per week.
I never considered myself poor, I’ve always seen myself as middle class but today was a bitch slap from reality.
I worked my ass off for that company, brought in over 1mil in under a year, and they let me go despite doubling my numbers consistently (would’ve been on track hit above target this month).
I’m furious. How did we get to the point where people are so desperate they’re willing to sell their own blood because there’s nothing else to do?
My arm is sore, but I ate a full meal today for the first time in a while and was able to pick up my medication. Someone please tell me this gets better, because I only have so much in me. Literally.
And hey, if you’re as desperate as I am and decide to donate plasma I got a referral code for a nationwide clinic if you wanna help a sister out.
