So I work at a summer camp for kids, and my main job is to pretty much make them have fun. I do that obviously and I often joke around with them and at the end of every week the kids always tell me that they had so much fun. However apparently I got a complaint last week saying “I’m always on my phone and do nothing”. I will admit, there are times where when the kids are busy doing stuff on their own I let them be and check my phone for a bit because I’m human and can get burnt out. We also don’t have assigned breaks, but we are allowed to call our manager to cover us any time however I feel pretty intimidated to ask my manager to cover me since they’re pretty busy, and I’ve never heard anyone ever ask for for a break (everyone kind of just takes one on their own whenever). Also, i’ve seen other employees going on their phones and “breaking rules” several times I feel targeted. So now regardless of how hard I work, because of that one complaint I have to now keep my phone in the office for my whole shift, and if anyone needs to reach me for an emergency I will have no idea. Is this legal in Ontario, Canada ?
