First off, I changed jobs a few months ago and it’s an absolutely new role, of which my experience is like 90% unrelated. My boss knew this when she hired me so I didn’t lie to her about my experience.
I tried to work hard, I did. I stayed back until like 8-9pm daily and I even got to work early around 8.30pm. I tried to learn as much as possible but it’s hard to learn when my boss thinks I should know everything.
To give some context, I’m helping her manage headcount and employee cost. So she would tell me, to talk to the other department heads and and ask them for their headcount requirements. But she asked me to look at 10 out of 50 departments, so I did. But the 10 have a headcount we cannot meet due to some cost control. So how, she asks me why I didn’t plan to ask the other 40, my honest thoughts are they I didn’t even know we were going to prioritise the 40! How would I, a new person to this type of job and new to this role, know to plan all these?!
And she’d say “hey, you’re an AVP now. You should think like one”
In fact, I just learnt a few weeks ago how she plans her fucking budget while I’ve been planning the budget wrongly for 3 months. She knew I was making mistakes but didn’t bother to help.
Fuck man.
Everything I need to talk to her, I feel like quitting.
But as much as I hate her… she gave me a chance so I dislike her less but I still don’t like her. Not one bit!
