I feel like one of the worst and not talked about jobs out there is order selector in a warehouse, especially if you work for a supermarket.. this one is particularly soul crushing because of the productivity quotas you have to achieve while working, going faster and faster while your performance is being constantly monitored and scrutinized by an AI software.
As if this wasnt enough, where I used to work we were divided in teams, and each team reviewed daily their performance, with a placement system which mirrors that of a sporting championship, with ''promotion and relegation zone'' lmao. Arbitrarily creating competition between your own workers is beyond insane, its sickening. For those reasons the work was always hectic and frenetic, resulting in a very stressful environment. Got out asap.
The obsession of late stage capitalism with monitoring productivity and setting ''standards'' to attain is becoming more malicious and pervasive by the year, and its a topic which needs to be talked more.
