Staffing agency comp issues

Good morning! I’m in quite a dilemma and would love to hear your opinion on the matter. I am a (Canadian) HR Generalist who accepted an offer for a senior HR generalist role, I am set to start next week. An agency called me to interview for an HRBP role which is the role I’ve been looking for. The position profile mentions the salary range is from 75-85 and when they presented my resume to the employer they suggested that i was comfortable with the range however during the interview salary expectations never came up. I am told the employer is ready to extend and offer and was asked for salary expectations. I made the mistake of suggesting 88K because the agency didn’t seem pleased. The market is paying 80-100 for my location. We left it at that as I await the offer letter however the agency listed this role…

We left it at that as I await the offer letter however the agency listed this role on their website weeks ago that the range is 75-95 however I applied on LinkedIn where the range stated 75-85. How can I approach this to agree to my expected salary? I know the bandwidth is there and I know I am within range based on my experience.

I hate to burn a bridge for the generalist role but the HRBP aligns more with my next career goal and I owe it to myself to pursue it. How do I express that to the hiring manager once I’ve accepted another offer?

I should add that I received a retention bonus of 4000 at work which I will have to forfeit as I won’t be employed when it’s due to be paid out so I’d love suggestion on how I can ask for a sign on or retention bonus.
