Hello all. I could use some advice. Working for a company that is 24-7 care of kids. They are often placing our schedule up on Monday or Tuesday when the work week begins on Monday. I have off Monday and Tuesdays so makes it more difficult for me. Plus I'd like to know who I am working with as I have to come in early if I'm stationed on med counts. I got grouchy and addressed it in the log book as the last time I called to have somebody fax me a copy they were rude about it. i just don't feel I can win.
Next I've been placing in PTO requests and often do not get a sheet back with approval or denial. Six weeks ago I put a PTO request in, didn't hear back , and then was told the day before that they did no receive my paperwork (they lost it but blamed it on me) and I couldn't have off. I have now asked for two days off in July. I asked four weeks ago and have not got my paper back signed yes or no. I emailed my sup to see what was going on as I have to know I have it off before I purchase a hotel room. She told me I had to go ask the other full time overnight worker if he had off and if he didn't I can have off. So what's the point then of PTO requests and receiving approval back when they are now going to do this? I don't want any more “accidents” with my days off. Shouldn't they be sending me a yes or no on my requested time off? And I shouldn't be chasing her down four weeks after I put the request in (and getting her last response was just total bs). Really getting frustrated.
