Surprise July 4 opening

Sharing a story I heard today. I was visiting a local cafe and waiting for my order. I struck up a conversation with the cashier and asked if they're open tomorrow (July 4, a holiday here in the US). She said that they weren't supposed to, but the owner changed his mind last minute and informed everyone that they have to work. Then she said that she's very disappointed because she was planning to travel home for a visit and had to push her plans. I agreed that it sucks and that I'm sorry to hear that she had to change her plans. Then I asked her where “home” is. It's Morocco. The cashier had to change her international travel plans because the owner decided people just have to have their coffee on the morning of July 4. I naively thought that a small, local business would treat their employees…
