I started my job in January of 2022. So I’ve been there for over a year and a half. In this time I’ve had 6 supervisors (1 retired, 2 restructures, 1 quit, 1 fired). They have restructured my position 2x, given me more responsibilities, and no increase in pay for them. I was given a 3% raise at 1 year, which is to be expected AT LEAST for an anniversary imo.
HR called me last week to tell me that it was a mistake that I was hired salary, and should be hourly. The organization is based in another state, and the people who hold my title there are hourly. HR claimed it’s because of when they file taxes, it needs to be the same. (but it wasn’t a problem last year when they filed taxes I guess?)
I know this is obviously an unstable environment. My question is, is there a downfall to being made hourly? I understand I can qualify for OT, but it must be approved. I know they won’t approve it. Idk how to feel about this sudden change in my pay structure. (Hourly rate should match salary)
