I have been working at IT Internship.
When I first started I was super surprised to how similar the people in the office were to each other. I noticed that one guy had an Ingress sticker and it turns out five or so people play that game too, mostly in the IT department. I never met anyone who played Ingress before.
Sometimes they would play music and I would be happy to hear that they chose Anthrax, Rammstein, or something else that I like too.
There's the chit chat and jokes that make the day seem to go by fast.
I would say that work was pretty enjoyable.
I thought, “Wow, this is a really great place to work.”
It was like this for a month and a half.
Then I get switched offices so I can answer phones.
No more music. No fun jokes or chit chat. I don't feel like we are all on the same wavelength. I mean, JFC it's Help Desk and people have been there a decade or three. I can say right now, I don't really care for Help Desk and would prefer to be doing something on the computer, working remotely, and working with my mind rather than grunt work like laying cable or getting on my hands and knees and plugging shit in.
They are okay people I'm just bored out of my mind and find myself dozing off at my desk.
I commute at least 40 minutes each way.
I find myself thinking, “Is this the way life is supposed to be? Am I wasting my life and my soul doing this? Is it better to be broke but have tons of time to read or teach myself something?”
Anyways, fuck work and the employer. Seriously.
