Teaching Sucks

My building is falling apart and work is more and more discouraging every day. The staff (teaching, paras, in my case, therapists) are thankless and often times blamed for EVERYTHING. When we seek help, we’re told to use self-care tactics. But if we try to use mental health days or call off for any reason, we get guilted. Our pay is absolute garbage and most of the kids are either extremely violent or constantly disrespectful. We hear sexual harassment all day, and there are next to no consequences for these behaviors. To top it off, my coworker who is a teacher, applied to work at a different school, and our direct supervisor called her “irresponsible” for no discernible reason except that she used a sick day. My coworker has never been late with her lesson plans, and when she is out, she always leaves detailed lesson plans. I feel like…

I feel like June can’t come fast enough. I’d quit and find a new job now, but I’m 6.5 months pregnant and was looking forward to my summer off. After I pop this kid out, I’m looking for a new job.
