Hi all, I'm a high school teacher and absolutely love the portion of my work life which is nurturing and caring for young people, but despise all the fake professionalism, internal politics, bosses, finances etc etc and in the last year it's led to me being suicidal for the first time in a decade.
My question is, regardless of the work place, what techniques do you use or rely on to zombie your way through the day and go home without taking so much shit and trauma with you?
To be clear: I'm not saying here that I want to be a let down to the kids, because that is not what I'm about at all. I run loads of extra curricular clubs and look after the vulnerable nerdy kids, and am really well liked by the students. My superiors, however, have it in for me, and I don't have the option of leaving until Christmas because of the long notice window.
Cheers!
