I wanted to share my story and get your thoughts. I've been working with an IT company for the past four years. It's been great, I started as a receptionist and worked my way up to being the most efficient help desk technician, closing well over 300 tickets a month.
Both of the owners of the company are religious. I am too, so I was okay with it. Not EVERYONE at the company is religious though. Yesterday, 'Boss B' called me into his office. He told me that my attitude towards one of my managers a prior week was unprofessional, and as part of my improvement plan I had to attend 'religious counseling'. This counseling was to be done through a counselor who works at Boss B's church (where he is also a pastor).
The counseling would make me focus more on my relationship with Jesus and better my attitude. Boss B would then check in with the counselor every week to see if my attitude is improving. If it wasn't they would terminate me.
If I declined this counseling, they would terminate me. Yesterday I declined the counseling and was therefore terminated. No one gave me an actual reason as to why I was terminated and they refused to confirm this deal in writing.
Long story short, I am now without a job and have a 9 month pregnant wife who is due literally any day now. What say you, fine people of Reddit?
