Terminated for relocating

I was terminated Friday for making the decision to make a modest move to a city that is simply more convenient for me and my lifestyle. For context, my job position requires almost daily travel and I use my personal vehicle but am reimbursed .27c/mile for mileage and allotted a monthly “vehicle allowance”. We have at least 1 employee who lives 30 miles east of the city I am moving to (so even further from the main office – which I only report to once a week). I was told by the director of HR, my direct supervisor and his supervisor that my move is “too far away”, “they just don’t like that city” and while there are absolutely 0 issues with my performance, moving to this city has “the potential to effect future efficiency and potential for travel related delays due to traffic”. I was told I was giving the company an ultimatum despite me trying to accommodate them by offering to have my mileage calculated from the main office and starting my days an hour or so earlier. They told me they were willing to compromise if I were to move to two other towns that would not be as convenient to me as the city I have decided to move to. I would be traveling no more or less than anyone else in the company. Oh, and I am/was their only remaining female employee in the field. There was nothing in the job offer I signed prior to being hired or within the employee handbook that state I need to live within a certain geographical area.

So yeah. Fuck them. I’ve contacted a few employment attorneys to explore my options, if I have any. Thought this sub would enjoy this story.
