Terminated while dealing with complications from birth

CO, USA I gave birth almost 4 months ago, but was still drawing on short term disability due to pretty severe PPA. I hadn't been receiving treatment for very long, and hadn't really made much progress yet. I was even working with 2 different groups/providers to try to get help as quickly as possible. My Dr had written a letter saying I needed at least 6 additional weeks after my original return to work date, slating me to return to work in early Oct. My STD insurance was approved through mid September, but I was told it would likely be approved for the whole time (and it still shows pending approval). I gave birth almost 4 months ago, but was still drawing on short term disability due to pretty severe PPA.

It isn't always a quick process, and regardless I wasn't medically cleared to return to work yet and HR had that info from my Dr.

Last week HR told me I was being put back on the schedule and my GM emailed me my schedule. I emailed HR and reminded them I wasn't medically cleared yet and told them the STD insurance was still showing pending extension (it still is today, they are waiting on more info from my Dr). I also emailed my GM and let them know the situation and they said they would follow up with HR the following week.

I didn't hear anything more from the GM or HR until today when HR emailed me notice of termination stating the (incorrect) return to work date and the fact that I was emailed my schedule yet didn't show up to work and attaching the separation notice.

I don't know where this leaves me with treatment or options, as now I will lose my insurance (and my deductible was met for the year) and my remaining funds in my fsa account.

Fuck me for trying I guess.
