Thankful for medical emergency

I had appendicitis in 2019. Called out of work and drove myself to the emergency room. Even though I was in a lot of pain and puking a lot, I was actually having a good time away from my job. I stayed in the emergency room department for 10 hours before actually going in for surgery. The morphine made it manageable though. When I look back on it, I find it odd that I favored being in the emergency room than at my job. It was like I finally get a break from this fucking monotony and depressed life, making fuck all. The morning after surgery, my supervisor actually texted me “I’m assuming you aren’t coming in today right?”. This is the reason why people don’t want to work. They’d rather have a medical emergency and have a reason to not go in.
