I work in IT fixing computers, both hardware and software issues. My main tool that gets used on each computer are usb flash drives. I'm the only technician so I'm the only one who really uses these thumbdrives. I bought my own, but the manager/owner doesn't want to pay me a tool fee which is why he provides me with them also.
He's done this twice. He bought the first pack of no name drives and i used them for a few weeks before they started to fail. Within 2 months they've now all failed. He claims i must be 'hard on usb drives' because he once bought cheap drivback in 2004 that worked really well for a few years.
The second pack he did the exact same thing, cheap no name drives. Within a few weeks they failed. Out of a pack of 8 i used 4 and still have 4 new (i haven't used them because he put a $20 price on them and i wouldn't put it past him to charge me when they fail).
This whole time (over 2 years) I've been using 5 of my own that have yet to fail. This guy has other red flags but this is a big one. I confronted him on buying junk and his reply went so far as to claim he pealed pny stickers off to prove that it's me being hard on them. I might be wrong but pny doesn't use stickers on their stuff, they laser etch their name on everything. I mean, they're a rebranding company.
Now we have a new employee and he's building a rapport against me reiterating jOkiNGly that im hard on equipment.
