So my workplace has cliques and my boss has obvious favorites. Yesterday I was asked to have a temp shadow me for the day. It was the temps' second day and she wasn't performing well, came back late from her break, as well as incidents that happened the day prior. One of the assistant managers informed our boss of the issues and our boss then immediately took out her phone to let the temp agency know that the temp wasn't working out.
The temp agency then immediately called her while she was at my desk and let her know that she was fired and to leave the premises. I didn't know what was going on at the time when she asked to speak to our bosses but I couldn't find them. I couldn't find any managers or other co-workers. I was left alone to handle this situation. I then came to find out that she was fired and she starts crying in front of me. I tried to comfort her and deal with the situation as best as I could and when she left, all of my coworkers magically showed back up.
They let me know that they knew what had happened and left and that my boss left early because she “had an appointment to go to”.
I don't know what to do and how – if at all- to bring this situation up to my managers. I feel awful and I and our temp didn't deserve that type of treatment.
