I work for a cleaning company that is contracted with this office building in my town. I’ve been cleaning this place for almost a year now, and was warned about the front desk lady because she is particularly picky, and has nothing better to do.
It took about 1 week of working here for the first complaints to come in, she addressed how I wasn’t cleaning things that I wasn’t even aware I had to clean in the first place (ledges behind coffee makers, pipes behind toilets). My employers have worked with her and her company for awhile now so they know what to expect and haven’t taken anything she says seriously. Another employee told me she realized I’m a new cleaner and will try to bully me now.
Fast forward about 6 months later and her complaints haven’t stopped, when the fall season started she made an email directly to my employers that she had found a single leaf in the entryway, stating I’m not even doing my job. At this point it feels personal, I’ve never actually met her because I work at night when the office is empty, and I feel like because she doesn’t have a face to my name that she has created this narrative of me. I believe she wants me fired because she’s never just simply left a note for me, only directly emailing my boss these stupid complaints to make me look bad.
I’ve never objected to any of these and simply smile and say I would fix it every time. But it’s getting harder, she recently emailed my boss that I didn’t clean anything last night, making it seem like I’m just sitting on my ass which I know isn’t true because I’m there doing it!!!
She has to have something horrible going on her with life and feels so secure with her front desk job that she can just bully me until I either quit or get fired from her insane complaints. I’ve fantasized about walking into this office during the day and screaming at her, which I know wouldn’t solve anything but my god it’s never ending…
I hate this job but it’s good for college because of the hours I work, it would be bearable if this woman didn’t hate me so much.
