The high suicide rate is caused by the expectation to “love/be passionate about your job”

Unfortunately, we live in a capitalist society. A job is what you gotta do for 40 hours a week to afford your life, and if you’re lucky some “extras”. There is no requirement to “be passionate” about it or “love” your job, or find it particularly fulfilling. You are not supposed to search for fulfillment in your means of earning a living. That expectation is what is causing such poor mental health: people look for fulfillment and satisfaction in their job, sometimes making it their entire purpose of being and a priority over everything else, and when they inevitably fail to find the joy they’re looking for, they feel empty and let down.
