For several years I've been doing a job that requires more hands on deck. I've requested help and even conveyed to my boss that my job is at minimum a two person job. I have communicated to other people the number of job responsibilities I have and they've confirmed it's ludicrous for one person to handle that many responsibilities. To top it off, I haven't been provided the necessary equipment to do my job (I work from home), and I have use my personal phone to make calls. When confronting my boss about this, she denied my requests for equipment, told me to quit complaining (she used an expletive) , and laughed when I requested help with my job.
Fast forward, I've put in my two weeks notice. I found out from another manager that I was supposed to be provided with a laptop, docking station, dual monitors, printer, scanner and shredder, phone and office supplies. I only have a laptop. I also had to train my REPLACEMENTS. They are replacing me with four other workers. This proves to me that I've been a doormat for too many years.
People, stand up for yourselves. I'm encouraging my replacements to hold people accountable for their mistakes and make sure they aren't taken advantage of. I wish my current job conducted exit interviews but they don't. I wanted to quit for a long time but certain circumstances held me back. No one deserves to be a doormat.
