I had, up until now, what I thought was a prestigious job that is fairly easy. Flexible, decent pay, easy work load only 5 staff including myself. However, back in July when I was called by a while on bereavement and asked to do a huge favor for a board member. I said I couldn't do it. Four hours later I got a call from a senior staff member and told “We are doing this bc she's a board member” I consulted with an attorney who confirmed it was a violation of state PFMLA laws. However, fair compensation was two days added back to the PTO bank unless retaliation occurs. I asked to meet with the exec director to discussed the situation and that I was nervous. He said don't be nervous. I kept having to defend myself in our meeting. My Exec Director who confirmed it was wrong and said he already “talked” to the senior staff involved and continued to ask me why I didn't say no to the other, much more senior (32yrs at the job and has the ability to make my work life suck). Why I didn't complain to the board member (Can also make my life miserable)? I found that one of the staff members I confided in confidentially had blabbed to my exec director. I now feel like I have a target on my back after a few incidents that I have documented. Just a reminder WORK IS NOT YOUR ALLY, THEY NEVER WILL BE, DONT'T FUCKING TRUST ANYONE AT WORK no matter how good the job is.
