Vent post.
We currently work for a time share resort company as their Service Desk.We make $20 per hour. Over the years, morale has been low as every single benefit we have is taken away. We present our managers with the solutions to all of our problems and zilch. Nada. Just recently, they killed work from home. Normal people work Monday-Wednesday in office. The Service Desk work Tuesday-Thursday in office for “collaboration, teamwork, and face-to-face interactions, which are essential for our continued success” which is great. None of that shit happens on Thursday; no one is even in office, including our manager, who provided the email with that line in it. The IT department area is literally dead with only us in it on Thursdays. “collaberation and face-to-face interactions” my whole ballsack.
We had contractors for the last month since we were short(er) staffed due to pto and leaves. our service level/numbers/metrics were understandably great. well, the contractors left us on Thursday. Our numbers are shit again. My manager's solution? OT opportunities. Bringing the overnight people onto days. one of us even asked him if he's going to hire more people (THAT WE FUCKING NEED AND HAVE NEEDED FOR YEARS) and they were ignored. completely. screenshotted that golden moment.
none of us are happy. all of us are looking at other jobs. they tell us to “talk to our leaders” for fucking what? so they can smile at us and tell us “your opinion matters” and then take a giant, smelly shit on all of us because our CIO said so?
people in salaried positions are exodusing at a pretty decent rate. even non-salarieid positions are either being eliminated or people are quitting. even the teams that are so much better than us, those who don't work weekends, are losing people. maybe we should start following suit since we're so essential and we matter. fucking bullshit. all of it.
we have expressed time and time again what we need, what will boost morale, in every single avenue. face-2-face meetings with management, engagement survey, teams, town halls, etc. what do they do? take away our shit and tell us to deal with it. if one of them comes up to us and says “don't like it? leave” then we're fucking leaving. we can't live like this anymore.
iirc it's against the rules of the sub to blast companies by name (even though they deserve it tbh) but if any IT people want to offer solid advice for our team, PM is open. thank you.
