Within the past few months, higher management has:
• Forced everyone into WFO, no matter the circumstances (including overseas employees who have to upend their lives if they want to keep their jobs).
• Laid off about 10% of the staff.
• Put almost half of the remaining workforce on PIPs.
• Implemented so many new practices/changes to SOPs that people's workloads have tripled in size.
• 'Forced' promotions onto people i.e given them way more responsibilities with no added pay.
I'm currently on a week-long vacation with my family and been having the time of my life until I realised what I'd be going home to. Being forced to commute to the office has brought my health to new lows (thanks to public transport and the ongoing existence of COVID). I haven't seen my therapist in forever because I can't tear myself away from my work long enough to have my hour-long sessions. Whoever wasn't fired or made the smart decision to quit, has been outrightly told that they “need to just work harder and have faith that things will get better”.
I want to quit. I know I have bills to pay and loans to worry about, but it's gotten to the point where I've found myself wishing I don't wake up most mornings. I can't believe this used to be my dream job.
