We get semi yearly “incentive” bonuses based on reviews.
Several weeks ago, I submitted mine & my employer reviewed and accepted it, they signed it and I signed it.
we even had a meeting where they told me I am really doing a good job and they are happy to have me, meaning I was going to be receiving a full bonus ( about 1k before tax)
Cut to today-
I’m pulled off the shop floor at the end of the shift today, plant supervisor is there along with my other supervisors.
They decided to “revisit” my review and decided they actually made a “mistake” in giving me a good review- and they absolutely tore me apart, gave me a long list of things I am terrible at, they questioned if I was suitable for my position.
Please note, I have never been told I’m doing anything other than a good job- this was completely out of left field for me.
So I was put on a 6 month personal improvement plan & if my bosses don’t like my progress they are gonna demote me.
And the kicker of it all?
If you are placed on an PIP you aren’t eligible for a bonus but my boss is allowing me to receive half the bonus 🤪.
Obviously applying for new jobs right now, just wanted to vent out into the universe.
**** UPDATE****
I really appreciate everyone’s support, I feel less alone in thinking this situation is fucked up.
I should clarify that HR, plant manager & my two managers were all in on this.
I had a meeting with HR today and I recorded the entire conversation where I was told that my previous good review is “gone” and they cannot provide me with a copy of it, I have a paper trail of of dates of my supervisors accepting the reviews, there’s about 5 weeks of time between the good review and them dumping this PIP on me.
And you guys should know my PIP ends AFTER the next year’s semi annual review, so I will not be eligible at all for the bonus ( if for some god forsaken reason I’m still working there) Thinking of going to a lawyer.
Don’t let the bastards grind ya down!
