Hello hopefully this is a welcoming subreddit for this topic!
I have been a supervisor for a company for over 10 years. Always had good relationships with my direct reports and the management I report to. I have always been a hard worker and slaved for this company during bad times, I have seen the ups and downs. the good times and the bad times. I am always on top of my numbers and even am a overachiever. I was considered to be the next promotion in line if something ever opened up.
Well I was called into an office recently to speak to someone high up, I have seen this guy before he's like 3 ranks above me, in charge of multiple buildings, and I was told due to the company consolidating and restructuring I have 30 days to apply to internal job postings or I could take the severance package which is a decent chunk of change. I asked why me? He could not give me a straight answer and basically was told from my boss I am his best supervisor and he's sorry this is happening. Its almost like he, HR, or maybe company lawyers picked random names out of a hat. He hit me with the spiel of he made phone calls and tried to get the impacted positions moved around and they wouldn't let him change them, now at this point I don't even care if they swapped me with someone else regardless its messed up, 1. I don't even want to stay and work for a company that doesn't care if your a top performer, and 2. don't even care about seniority.
Now I was told there would be two openings in my building and I looked at him confused. He said he was laying off X amount of people in his area of responsibility and it was only fair if they give the others a chance to apply rather then just move me straight back into my position. A manager called my manager and told me I was guaranteed a spot in another building as they had an opening, I basically turned it down and didn't even apply. My mind is made up and im leaving, yes its sad but I cant work for a company that is basically telling me you don't care how i perform or how many years I have.
I want to write a thank you letter to my CEO which might not even get read, I don't wanna be mean or devious to leave on bad terms, I just want to show my thanks and maybe make him/her feel like a slight peace of shit in a professional and nice manner on my way out. We were always told that at my position and up we are partners with the company and its just all bs. I was thinking of maybe saying thanks and laying out all my accomplishments, what do you think? I welcome some ideas(:
