Worked at a job I was unqualified for, for a while to learn a good skill even if the job sucked. Learned that skill, and went out to the job market with it. Walked out or hung up on so many interviews because of all the red flags I have learned from this sub. My top 10 red flags from 76 interviews over 3 months.
- Being required to fill out an app after sending a resume
- Interviewer late to interview
- Wage different than advertised
- Car quality disparity in the parking lot
- “We're a family company” more than once in an interview process
- Everyone wears a lot of hats
- Work hard play harder
- ANY political commentary anywhere along the process
- Religious owners
- Pizza Parties being advertised as a benefit.
I have to say, the looks on their faces when I just politely got up, said no thank you and walked out. Priceless. I imagine its the same expression the nobles had when the first serfs to unionize said “no” IF you are reading this and wondering if the labor shortage is real or not, it is. They are desperate out there, and you have the power, if you hate your job leave, there are better ones out there I promise.
