Threaten me and other employees that you will shut the company down? Great, let us do it for you.

This is from 2019 and please pardon my English as it's not my first language. I am from India, and we have way too many teaching/tutoring/coaching centers that run along with a type of institution called “Study Abroad Education”. Here, sometimes, you have people working, who have close connections with people in the USA (and other countries) who can help a student set up a life there (legally) and may guide them for writing the SOPs and LORs. Think of them as admission counsellors but operating in a private capacity. There's an institute that was recently busted for faking/copying LORs, but I guess that news never went mainstream. I was working at once such institute. It was all nice and dandy, but the institute was run by a rich person's daughter, and she was NOT doing well at being a leader here. She was great at her work (working with application process) but running the whole thing was NOT her thing and many working under her were either fed up or had plans to collectively leave the organization because of her micromanagement.

Her dad wasn't happy with this, but he also didn't want to teach her a lesson. He had funded the whole thing but didn't interfere with her work much. He was a leader once so many senior staff had mentioned to him about her, but I guess nothing changed.

One fine day, he comes to where I am working (+ 4 other people) and one by one asks us about how he can make things better. We give okay-ish answers as back then everyone was on edge and was 1 bad decision away from leaving the organization.

He called us all in another conference room and yelled at us for not obeying his daughter and that 'if I wanted, I would shut this whole company down in one day'.

Well, well, well.

1 of them left right that night. I put my resignation, another colleague quit the next morning and within 3 days everyone was out.

This was 1 branch in 1 city. They had 3 branches in another city – the moment they heard of our coup, many people quit as well. In less than a month, every branch that operated her direct leadership was out of service.

All of us got better opportunities. We couldn't care for where the daughter-son duo is, but it seems they didn't care much anyway because all those branches are now permanently close. He fucked around and found out or maybe he wanted to shut this thing anyway!
