I’m contracted to work for a large IT company, my department in particular and the company overall has a large number of contractors. They just announced all contractors will be furloughed three weeks of the year. The week of Fourth of July, the week of thanksgiving and the week of Christmas to new years.
My contracting company already doesn’t pay holidays and I accumulate a max of 5 days of pto a year. Three additional weeks of unpaid time??? Never mind if I have any other planned time off already.
Do I have any recourse here? It’s there unemployment I can file for on these weeks?
THREE FREAKING WEEKS. That’s not a small paycut. And an hourly pay that’s already below my value.
Ugh.
