A little rant because I've been annoyed at this for some time now.
One of the first things someone will ask you is what you do for a living. If you say any job that's not a six figure job, they’ll be like “oh, that's a cool side hustle/gig”. Like why not say the word job?? And it's even more awkward when that “gig” is your primary job. A job is a job no matter how much you make.
The adult work life is actually cringe. I'm currently in school and my part-time jobs are reselling and art commissions. The confusion on people’s faces and voice when I tell them this is baffling. It was even the same thing when I worked at a vet-clinic. Like I'm sorry I'm not some CEO making a million a week.
There's just no respect for people anymore and that's been hitting me hard lately.
