Some things corporations do don't make sense to me at all.
Nobody likes working overtime, coming into the office 5 days a week, late nighters, missing important life events, stressful deadlines etc. Most employees aren't incentivized to work that hard as they'll never make enough to make up for that extra hard work. Even a 13 year old can tell you these things. It's very common sense stuff.
Yet most corporation seem to lack that common sense and shoot themselves in the foot constantly by bad policies and taking a direction for the worse, like impsoing Return to office policies. I don't get it.
Would it not serve them better to have happier employees who'd want to stay there? Can someone in management explain what goes on?
