First of all, this is the worst company I have worked for by far, most places I have been at least try to pretend to care about their employees but since some holdings took over they have been pretty transparent about the fact that they don't give a shit about anyone who actually works in any of these restaurants.
Received a company newsletter today, absolutely a mess of a document with one tiny square at the bottom right corner stating that we would be receiving window clings to advertise that we will be open on Thanksgiving.
I am the assistant manager and this was the first notice that I personally had, we were not open during the holidays last year so this is a huge shock.
Any place I ever worked that was open on Holidays stated this clearly on hire, not 4 weeks before a major holiday.
Luckily I also found out today that we are expected to be open on Christmas as well.
My GM just rolls over and takes it instead of pushing back at our director, so if I insist that I'm not working the holidays my GM will have to be there by himself.
More than anywhere else I've ever been this company really weaponizes the fact that people are depending on you.
I have two interviews this week and I'm planning on quitting as soon as possible but if I don't give notice I'm not hurting my director or anyone else that doesn't physically work at that store so they don't give a shit, I would literally just be screwing over my GM and staff.
The people who make the decisions that make our jobs and lives a living hell are completely insulated from the consequences of their actions.
I've been looking for a new job since not getting a cost of living increase in July but this is really twisting the knife that they I think so little of us that they think we don't even deserve to spend the holidays with our families.
