Hi r/antiwork
Not sure if this is the right subreddit (based on the description and posts, seems like it is, but if not, if someone can please direct me to an appropriate one, that'd be much appreciated).
To make a long story short, two weeks ago I decided for various reasons, I needed a mental health break, otherwise I was afraid I'd have a genuine breakdown. I had pneumonia and COVID a few weeks prior, so I decided to leverage that knowledge and sent an email to my manager stating my health wasn't recovered and to use my vacation days for the next two weeks. Proceeded to book an Airbnb cabin up north for two weeks, told my friends and family where I was and left my phone on airplane mode and all other technology behind.
(A quick side note but this was an extremely life changing experience in the sense that I felt disconnected from society and let me find myself in a lot of ways, highly recommend!)
Anyways, I've decided I want to quit my job and backpack Asia for a bit and have made roughly a 365 day plan to save and budget for it. However, upon returning to my job, my boss put me on Short Term Disability and now they are asking for a doctor's note specifically? I don't want to lose my job (yet), but wondering what's the best option here? I'm located in Canada if that helps as well.
