Give me your burned/torch the bridge stories. I mostly just want to know I'm not alone lol. I'll go first.
I planned on giving my employer 2 weeks notice, I really did. But I decided today that I am torching this bridge. I noticed early on the environment and leadership was extremely toxic, I also think the business is only a bad month away from completely going under. It was honestly so bad, that when the CEO and CTO went on leave around the same time you could feel the energy shift. Think of that picture of Nicole Kidman after her divorce from Tom Cruise.
Today, HR made an announcement that if an employee resigns with a week PTO within a month of the date they turn in the notice, they wouldn't pay out PTO balances. It's not legally required they pay it in my state, but it is fairly rare a company doesn't.
I had planned on using my PTO, then submitting notice. I do have a new gig lined up. The second I heard the new policy, I just kind of snapped. I am signed in for today, but plan on boxing up my equipment with my resignation letter, and shipping it back to arrive on the Monday I would have returned from vacation.
I don't need this place or anyone from it for a referral. I have a new gig starting, and an extended vacation to enjoy.
