I have been wanting to transfer out of my department, and really out of the organization for quite some time. Unfortunately, my son was injured in an accident last week (he is doing better now) but he will be out of school for 6 to 8 weeks (hospital home bound, they call it) and therefore I filling for FMLA. My situation is very straightforward and therefore I know I will be approved (I am in Florida by the way).
My question is if anyone knows about any laws or anything that would prevent me from filing for a transfer right when I return from FMLA. Or is there a waiting period or something.
I obviously don’t want to say anything now because I need the health insurance for me and my kids and I don’t want to give them any reason to separate employment. I know its shitty to wait until I return so they could begin search but they have been quite awful during this past week (saying they support me and take time for family then asking me to pick up the slack from another incompetent team member putting pressure on me before I can get the pediatrician to get the documentation together for me.
Thanks for the help. I want out and I need to focus on my son.
