Y’all, this is the first time I’ve experienced this so I need feedback. I was laid off the week before last and started a $18 an hour temp receptionist role last week. All of 4 days so far.
I’m a seasoned professional (over a decade of experience) w/ an undergrad degree, as well as an advanced degree.
Their previous receptionist was promoted to an account receivable clerk position. I interviewed and was asked to start on the spot because the other receptionist they’d found didn’t show up.
This is her first professional job (she was a waitress before) and has no formal education. So I understand that at 22 years old, this job may seem like a big deal for her. But this “promotion” to accounting comes with literally a $1 raise and a slew of duties so I have ZERO interest in that.
At any rate, on the second day, she told me I needed to work out and she needed me to get this stuff because she refuses to be a receptionist again. And she continues to complain how frustrated she is with me to the staff literally all day long — to the point that I can’t do anything right, how slow I am etc. It isn’t a race as long as I finish all tasks before 5pm IMHO.
What is this mean girl behavior? And why isn’t it common sense that this is just a temp job?
