Tried to get a job as a union carpenters apprentice

I applied for a job at a framing company. The guy that interviewed me said they were a union company. I would have to travel to a city an hour away three days in a row next week. ( That's six hours of driving). I would have to take two separate drug tests. Between the union fees, and tools I would have to purchase it would cost me about 400 dollars. Also every three months I would have to travel to this city five days out of the week for classes. I would have to get a hotel room ( which would probably cost upwards of 500 dollars) , or drive two hours round trip each day. Of course I learned most of this a week after my interview.
