So I told my supervisor that I was going to put my notice in tomorow. Today we spoke and I clarified that I intended to put in 4 weeks notice. She informed me that in my position I’m required to put in 6 weeks. She then explained since I’m taking a 2 day vacation next week, that I add in an additional 2 days to make my notice, “a full 6 weeks.”
If I don’t put in a “full 6 weeks” I won’t have a good reference from this job. I’ve worked here for almost a year, just over a year if I do the 6 week notice.
I feel like I’m being blackmailed and my work is being petty.
I’m ready to tell them, if I won’t have a good reference I’ll just leave tomorrow.
My parents say, “what’s an extra 2 weeks and 2 days” which is a fair point.
Any advice?
