Two potential job offers went in opposite directions…

My current company wanted us all to come back to the office in the next 3-4 months. For reference, I've been working remotely for 2 years due to covid. Even though a few employees voiced their desire to work from home (it's a small business), the owner preferred the “culture” of the office (bland cubicles, the owner being able to walk around to talk to people, etc.). This was one reason that I decided to look for other work, fully remote work, in addition to the much higher pay for remote positions for the same job. Without trying to brag, my skill set it highly sought after by businesses, so I received 3 offers nearly back-to-back. Option A paid $X, but the health insurance was poor and it would require me to travel 25% of the time. Option B paid $X – 15%, but had great insurance, more vacation time,…

Option B paid $X – 15%, but had great insurance, more vacation time, and no travel requirements.

I told Option A that I had a couple more interviews to do over the next two days, but would let them know. They also reassured me that the travel requirement could be negotiated/waived and that we could figure out a way to avoid this. That came directly from one of the executives (and the company is fairly large).

For Option B, I told them there was an offer, plus one more interview, but I'd let them know too. While waiting for Option C's offer (which I turned down for a variety of reasons), Option B contacted me again only an hour later now offering $X exactly (plus the same good insurance, more vacation time, etc). Option A contacted me a couple days later, not to offer anything different, but to tell me I would need to be more flexible with them in regards to travel. (I don't even work for you yet! Thank god for your honesty..)

Needless to say, I chose Option B, but negotiated a better job title, since they obviously wanted me enough to up my pay. I probably could've asked for more salary too, but all of the offers came in close to twice my current salary and I didn't want to nickel and dime them.

TL;DR

Had two competing job offers. One chose to renege on their promise to reduce the travel requirements (just to be with the team 1 week every month), while the other chose to offer me more money and a better job title.
