So up until last month I was working in the marketing team for a huge global brand based in America. It was paid super well and remote so allowed me to travel and live in cheap places to save money. Unfortunately, sales have plummeted and they have had to conduct layoffs, and that also impacted UK staff as well. We were all paid out about £10,000 afterwards.
Its been a month of applying and interviewing for new roles but haven't had a single offer. The excuse is always that they are outsourcing the marketing role to another country, or they are taking the role in another direction, but keep assuring me it is not related to me or my qualifications/cv. I have two degrees from Russell Group Universities in Business+Management and about three years professional experience in marketing and sales.
Also, a lot of jobs seem to be based in London and are on site. I really don't want to burn through my savings for a job that pays £25-30k as i'm worried I might be shooting myself in the foot. It's been hard to find a marketing manager role that pays as highly as what i got before (circa. 47k) and allows flexible working.
It feels like I am getting nowhere and i'm disheartened that I worked so hard at school, university and in my job just to be left unemployed. Should I consider my own business instead or look at jobs abroad? Would like to hear some people's perspectives on what to do going forward.
