I am not a worker complaining about my union, I am a worker complaining about my bosses who work for a union.
I can count on one hand the number of bosses I've had as an organizer who didn't try to screw over their employees at every turn. The fact that they know the ins and outs of labor law makes them so much more dangerous and destructive to their employees. Working as an organizer will have you looking hypocrisy in the face every day and I am sick of it. Unions are great, the organizers that you interact with (if your workplace is organized) are great, but the bosses are just the worst. It is just so disheartening to be working in this movement because I believe in the values only to realize that so many people at the top do not practice what they preach.
Edit: I am criticizing bosses here, not unions. I only mention that they are union bosses because there is a lot of hypocrisy in the movement that goes unaddressed. I guess what I'm saying is that there is a lot of criticism to be made from a leftist perspective about the way that unions operate and frequently union-bust their organizers, and failing to acknowledge that is siding with bosses, not the working class.
Edit pt. 2: I don't know how I can make it any clearer that I am not complaining about my union. I work for a union and am complaining about my bosses. Unions are great, I have a union and I love it. That is not the issue here.
