So, before you all crucify me, I will make the disclaimer that this pertains only to MY life, and it is due to my current living conditions, but i’m sure some folk would find this interesting.
So, Personally. I would not mind working in an office, as i sure as fuck do NOT want to work from home in my current living conditions, those conditions being as follows.
The Apartment I live in is too small to have a room to use as an office (only a single bedroom, a single bathroom, and a single kitchen, Absolutely ZERO other rooms).
My grandmother who keeps wandering in and staring at me for absolutely zero reason every 5-30 minutes when i’m trying to focus on stuff, she also makes kissing noises at me, she hates when i’m on the phone for longer than ten minutes even though she likes to talk on her phone sometimes for over two hours.
Lack of Home wifi due to my grandmother not liking internet and always bitching about Internet being needed to do many things reasonably and we lack money(I’m typing this on mobile data, even then the mobile data connection in the two block range i happen to fall in is very poor for no reason)
To expand on my grandmother’s bitching, she has been interrupted me in Zoom calls from my phone before in regards to more history based meetings, so i highly doubt she would respect anything job related, and would likely get me fired from anywhere if i worked from home.
These are all PERSONAL issues i have to deal with that make me more willing to work from an office, However, i do NOT believe companies should be forcing people to be in an office, as i believe it should be up to the worker on whether working from home or from an office suits their needs best, in my case Office work is better, but in MANY cases, i know people are able to work from home since they don’t have to worry about losing their job due to a family member being disrespectful on the clock.
I also am absolutely AGAINST the recent Ohio law (source, Today’s Antiwork video by Emkay) that mandates only like 8 hours of work from home time, that law is bullshit and needs abolished so people can choose their conditions.
TL:DR, I would do better in an office environment due to circumstances i highly doubt anyone else has, and respect that people should be allowed to choose if they want to work from home instead of being forced into an office.
