Hello r/antiwork it’s been a while since I’ve posted here. Anyways, let’s get to it.
So I get paid enough to live. No fun money, barely anything for savings. Whatever. That isn’t my issue today. I’m complacent in that. Today, my issue is the fact that I have a coworker that keeps asking to bum rides home from me. It’s a repeated thing. We both travel to this city for work from the same smaller neighboring town. But she and I live on complete opposite sides of the smaller town. Taking her home would put me in the car 30 extra minutes. She isn’t in a position to pay for gas for those extra miles. Work won’t pay me for it. She has asked me 5 times now. And every time I’ve said no. That I’m doing something right after work, as an attempt to keep from being rude. But I’m afraid I can’t keep that up forever.(sorry to sound like a bitch, but my drive home is literally my ONLY alone time aside from shitting and showering. And even then sometimes I’m interrupted. So no. I will not be giving up my alone time, for in return, having to give up what little amount I add to savings every month. Not. Happening. Rant over.)
I brought this issue up to the manager, who in turn, made me feel bad about it. Saying how I’m the only other one that lives that direction, and I’m the closest one too her. Yadda yadda yadda. But get this, the coworker in question literally drives for this company. This company has more than enough vehicles to just let her use to get to work and go home. The manager said some bologna about insurance. To which the only thought in my head was “well that’s not a me problem. And neither is taking a stranger home”. But what came out of my mouth was “ok. Well can you just see if she can use one of the vehicles? Because I’m not doing it.” Let me reiterate, all I know about this woman is that her husband is a huge dick. And that’s not something I want to pull up to.
So… any advice?
