Hello guys! It's been a little while since my last post, so I figured I'd give an update.
I (18M) decided to wait awhile before I quit my job so I could continue to pay for my college. Despite being yelled at constantly, I did whatever I was told and planned to quit at the beginning of August. However, life circumstances kept me from going to work for several days, and I was called into my bosses' office yesterday to discuss my employment.
One of the team leads was there too (who I'll call Toxic Bully or TB) sat beside me while my boss told me I was on workplace probation for not being at work. I explained to them why I did not attend, and I showed them the call logs I had on my phone that verified I tried to call in but was hung up on. My boss wasn't having it though and said, with a smirk on her face, that if I was even one minute late for the next several months I was going to be terminated. TB giggled the whole time, which did not surprise me since she was one of the managers yelling at me the most during my shifts.
I considered quitting right then and there, but I decided to finish out one last day since I knew if I did my company would owe me $200-300 for my hours. The following day, TB made my shift hell by yelling at me, calling me lazy, following me everywhere and breathing down my neck. It took all I had to not cause a scene, but I patiently waited out my shift. Eventually, I decided to head to the bathroom five minutes before my last break so TB couldn't follow me (I am a male). When break started, I entered the back rooms to collect my things. I ran into TB who, smugly, asked where I was. I told TB that it was none of her business, that I quit, and to go fuck herself.
After I said that, it seemed like a pin dropped, because soon EVERYBODY in the area was staring at me. A coworker covered her mouth, and TB looked like her brain got fried cause she just couldn't process what I had just said to her. TB eventually left and called someone to personnel, while I collected all my things. I ran into TB talking to someone in the middle of the store, but I ignored her. I ran to my mother's car, shut the door, and drove away.
My mom told me that saw multiple people outside including TB. I didn't care though, and we got snacks and my mom told me she was proud of me for standing up for myself against a toxic workplace. And you know what? I am too. Now I can focus on my move to college and spend my last month at home with family.
Fuck Walmart and all the bullies who work for them.
Tl;dr: I was told I was almost fired, team lead who was present at the time and the following day giggled and made my shift hell. I told her to go fuck herself and left. Currently sitting at my own home, at night, not worrying about going back to that hellhole. Feels good.
