My colleague from a few states away called me last night to tell me them and their whole department had a meeting with the director. The director essentially told everyone that their sister facility is being remodeled and all the work will be trucked over to my colleagues facility. They will be getting 15 temporary workers. Everyone who’s a supervisor is being demoted to the title “lead” however the director said “pay will not be affected”. Yea right. Then the final turd on the shit sandwich was the manager of 10 years announcing they’re quitting in two weeks.
He told me everyone in the room was silent. Just stunned actually.
Their department can’t handle the work of two facilities. The manager probably knew about this “plan” beforehand and decided it was best to call it quits. Shit I would have too. We also believe pay will be safe for a while but it will eventually be cut. The director just said that to keep the entire department from walking out.
Many of these supervisors were here for 10 years or more. Just goes to show they’ll cut you quick to save a buck.
