I was a head cashier. After a month of pulling twice my weight because of a fresher hire who wouldn't pull their weight (ie not doing our shared assigned tasks, taking two hour lunches) because they were a manager's favorite (they got multiple credit cards a week, which is important to the corporate gods). I was absolutely stressed to the limit, and the managers wouldn't do anything about it. Things came to a head last night, and god-gift head cashier, acting MOD, asked me if I was doing my job because they hadn't heard me asking for credit cards. I just laughed at them and put my stuff on the counter, and told them to have a good night. They yelled after me that I was doing them a favor, and to not come back. Like we're high schoolers and not adults. I didn't plan on it, but I thought I'd at least call today and tell the managers why I left abruptly. Our store manager told me that she was okay with what god-cashier said. So fuck them, and fuck their credit cards. Credit cards won't keep their store running. I'll make sure to spread the word around town.
